Emma Mulholland 'As Bad As I Guana Be"
No 'new' designer has got me as excited as Emma Mulholland in the last year or so and this collection just reaffirms that. What has me so excited is something really simple: it's what I can see my friends and I wearing and what I feel is truly an Australian influence. The bright, unique prints are right up my ally and are almost completely unique from other local spring 2013 collections and the burnt patterns and thrown together styling completed with caps, backpacks and a favourite of my mums back in the day, Velcro sandals, is what really sends me back to my childhood not the Australian prints that seemed to pop up constantly at MBFWA.
But what has really gotten me excited about this collection in particular is where Emma has taken her influence from: lizards. As my friends would know and everyone who looks at my Twitter my family happens to have two pet Bearded Dragons who are adorable and freak people out when they first see them although they wouldn't hurt a fly (unless they see food on your finger/mistake your finger for food but that's another story..) Though not influenced by Bearded Dragons but iguana's I would love to wear lizard prints just for the fun of it even if my pets think I am an enemy lizard. Maybe that mega cool "Cold Blooded Chiller" jacket from the collections video would be a better choice?
P.S. Anyone know where I could get some lizard size sunglasses from?
