Nostalgia

Question: is it possible to feel nostalgic for something that is not only not finished but is also a representation of nostalgia itself?

Because that is exactly how I feel about Mad Men.

Sure sometimes it irritates me to no end (particularly with its treatment of LGBT and African American characters) but generally it is one of the few shows that I can't really fault and it is easily my favourite show currently airing.

From the dialogue to the attention details through to its slow pace combined with random WTF moments everything is consistently on point but for me, and I am sure thousands of others who like the beautiful things in life, it has been the consistency in style that makes Mad Men.

Known for his obsessive attention to detail even when it comes to the smallest set pieces like apples Matthew Weiner has made the design and styling of the show almost a character itself. Betty, for example, is hard to imagine without envisioning her fainting lounge and the glasses used by Sterling Cooper in the first few seasons became so popular that everyone starting selling or at least relabelling there whiskey glasses as Mad Men glasses.

But out of all the styling and design details it is the fashion that truly calls to me and is the most successful and at giving Mad Men a concrete point in time and culture. Betty, Peggy, Joan, Megan, Sally, Rachel, Faye, Don, Stan, Rodger. Pete etc every single character in Mad Men has an important fashion moment whether to showcase their personalities and age or to show just how little or how much they have changed.

So to celebrate the end of the best TV shows ever and to help me cope through nostalgia here is some of the best best fashion moments from Mad Men.
