The Great (Long Lasting) Gatsby

I remember kinda giggling to myself when I first saw Gucci's Spring 2012 collection. Not because I hated it. No actually loved it (unlike my usual Gucci reaction). No the reason I laughed is because I kinda saw myself as psychic just for a minute. With Underbelly: Razor (A show about 1920's gangs in Sydney) just beginning and the filming of The Great Gatsby my little 20's obsessed heart decided to write an article about how the Jazz Age was the perfect place to take inspiration with its free spirit and change. Cue Gucci and the onslaught of drop waist dresses a few weeks later and I practically squealed. The 20's were coming back! But I still did not chain stores would take it on. But flash forward and what do we have? Sparkles, headgear, low heels and yes, drop waist dresses everywhere from ASOS to Sportsgirl. I guess that eliminates the need to troll your grandmas closet.
